JUSTYNA SINIŁO – KUCZYŃSKA: How can we tell whether our child benefits from a language course?

In other words: How can I recognise, as a PARENT, that my child is making progress, that he or she has actually learned something? How can I tell that the course is not a compete waste of money or waste of time for both me and my child?

Preschoolers do not receive grades (which, by the way, are not very reliable indicator of their language skills level). Let us even assume that parents do not speak a word of English. How are they supposed to assess their children’s learning outcomes? Is this at all possible?

It definitely is. They only need to know what to pay attention to. And this is what I’m going to focus on in my session! Feel free to join us!

ALDONA SEREWA: What aspects of preschool development should you understand to help a child learn a foreign language?

In this session I will discuss the way preschoolers learn and develop and how this affects their language acquisition. I will focus on things which we, grown- ups, find the most frustrating, and which result from a child’s natural behaviour. I will tell you what to do and what not to do to help children acquire a foreign language and to ignite their curiosity and passion for languages.
